First Gentleman Jose Miguel T. Arroyo has helped in setting the momentum for the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, (MTG) Philippines to host smultaneously the Philippine Elementary Mathematics International Contest (PEMIC 2005) and the Asia Inter-Cities Teengers Mathematics Olympiad (AITMO 2005) on May 23- 28, 2005 at Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, Bohol Province.

His donation of one (1) million pesos has given the organizers the dashing spirit to pursue its determination to host the international contests. It has also served as an instrument to make everybody and everything into motion since the huge amount has facilitated not only the varied circumstantial difficulties but also financial insufficiency.

FG Arroyos’ donation is an obvious manifestation of his intention to show the global communities of the capability of the Filipinos to stage such an academic contest. It also aligns with the government trust to provide mathematically-gifted Filipinos the opportunity to be at par with international contender.

First Gentlemen Mike Arroyo has also accepted the invitation to be Honorary Chairman of the PEMIC and AITMO 2005 last April 28, 2005.
