The fourteen (14) teams from the Philippines delegations arrived home with shining glory after the PHILIPPINE TEAM no. 14 outwittedly grasped one of the highest awards in the recently concluded China Primary School Mathematical Olympiad 2005 at Tai-an City, Shandong, China on August 8 to 14, 2005.

The three (3) proud banner bearers of the Philippine Team no. 14 who outsmarted other contenders from the 184 teams from Korea, China and Hongkong were Carmela Antoinette Lao, Vance Mikhail Uy of St. Jude Catholic School and Aileen Giselle Chua of Grace Christian School.

At last, these MTG trained kids bagged the championship award in Calculation Skill Contest after several attempts to grapple it for eight (8) years now.

On the other development, Ervin Frederick Dy of Chiang Kai Shek College and so with Lao, Uy and Chua soared over the other contestants after landing 1st place in the Individual Category of the Calculation Skill Contest.

The competition was of three types, the Problem Solving Skill Contest, Calculation Skill Contest and the Relay Contest. It was Beijing Math School Team no. 1 that got the 1st place award in the Problem Solving Skill Contest and was eventually declared the Overall Champion since it obtained the highest combined total team scores in all contests.

The Philippine team headed by MTG officers, Center Coordinators and supportive parents come home with flashing achievements and they are another honor and prestige for the Philippines. This BIG accomplish reflect the dynamic leadership of Dr. Simon, L. Chua to let Mathematics in the Philippines to be at par with the international mathematical landscape.
