3RD HONORS FOR MTG GIRLS IN THE 2005 CHINA MATH OLYMPAID FOR GIRLS

More often then, not the Mathematics Competition is usually associated to boys’ dominant world, the Philippines in the China Math Olympiad for Girls 2005 held in Chang Chung, China broke the gender bias as perception lf “ Math for boys only”. The competition joined by more than 200 participants from Macau, Hongkong, Philippines Russia and the 21 provinces in China.

The competition consisted of 8 problems, four (4) problems were given on the first day, which has an allotted time of four (4) hours, and the remaining problems were given on the 2nd day of the competition. Abegail C. Ceralde of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School and Joana Jane C. Tan of Jubilee Christian Academy received the 3rd honors awards while Melissa Janelle H. Dy and Nellie Margaret S. Chua of Chiang Kai Shek College won the Excellence Awards. Aside from the Mathematics competition, participants were also invited to compete in the Aerobics and Chess contests.

Dr. Eduardo Dela Cruz, Dean of Normal College, Arellano University, Legarda and MTG Vice President for Training and Development and Mrs. Josephine Lorenzo Tan of Grace Christian High School led Philippine delegations.
