DR. PETER TAYLOR CONFERS AWARDS TO 2008 AMC WINNERS

Oct 01, 2008

Achievement seems to be connected with action. These are what the successful MTG kids have been manifesting as they keep moving towards victory. They make mistakes, but they do not quit. They are those who consider competition as the by-product of productive work, not its goal. They are creative young math wizards who are motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.

With the splendid achievements in the 2008 Australian Mathematics Competition, the Filipino kids will be finally recognized for their extraordinary performance which made them garnered 10 Prize Awards, 38 High Distinction Certificates and 5 Prudence Awards. It will be no less than Dr. Peter Taylor, Executive Director of the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) who will present the awards to the Filipino math achievers in 2008 AMC.

This year's Filipino math winners will be honored on October 15, 2008, 9 o'clock in the morning at the at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, intersection of Rizal Avenue and Doroteo Jose Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila. If the schedule of the invited guests will only permit them to be at the awarding ceremony, then we will be graced by key personalities who believe in the powerful spirits of our youths to soar in greater heights.

Furthermore, other than those recipients of the 10 Prize Awards and 38 High Distinction Certificates, 2008 AMC will also acknowledge the 5 Prudence awardees as follow: Angeline Baniqued of St. Paul College-Pasig, Jeremy Vance Yap of Grace Christian High School, Philip Lizarda of San Beda College-Alabang, Mikaela Angelina Uy of St. Jude Catholic School and Ricci Ryan Rojo of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School.

Dr. Simon Chua, MTG President, is leading the other MTG officers and center coordinators in extending his congratulations to all the 2008 AMC winners. Dr. Chua gladly said, "If we are striving, if we are working, if we are trying, to the best of our ability, to improve day by day, then success can just be easily grasped for it is plentiful around the corner".
