Dec 06, 2010

The Philippine team being represented by 7 smart math wizards went to compete in the 15th Hua Luogeng Gold Cup Youth Math Invitational Competition held in Jintan City, Jiangsu, China on November 7-11, 2011.

Giving the Philippines another medals of achievement were Marc Patrick C. Celon and Reine Jiana M. Reynoso of Philippine Science High School-Main, Deany Hendrick R. Cheng of Grace Christian College and Rachel G. Rojo of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School.

Hua Luogeng was a Chinese mathematician born in Jintan, Jiangsu. He was the founder and pioneer in many fields in mathematics research. He wrote more than 200 papers and monographs, many of which became classics. This competition is made in his honor to encourage young math wizards in Asia to hone their skills through contest.

Dr. Simon Chua, MTG President, had expressed his delight as he extended his congratulations in saying, 'keep dreaming, keep reaching' for more honor and recognition for our country. He advised all math wizards embarking on similar competitions to never doubt but believe in themselves.
