PH MATH ACES TOP AMC 10/12

 Once again, our Filipino math wizards were in the limelight for achieving remarkable results in the 2014 American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 10/12 which automatically had registered eleven of our math aces to take the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) in March this year.

 

Three Filipino math crunchers managed to be on the top list in the AMC 12 - a 25 question, 75 minute multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems which could be understood and solved pre-calculus concepts.

 

Standing best in the AMC 12 in the Philippines was number one top scorer herself Kelsey Lim Tiong Soon of Grace Christian College. Lim Tiong Soon was followed by Adrian Reginald Sy of St. Jude Catholic School. Both were declared recipients of the Honor Roll Distinction Pin. Moreover, they along with Jason Carlo Carranceja of Grace Christian College would receive Young Student Certificate of Achievement and Certificate of Distinction.

 

There were also three math savvy Filipinos who made it in the AMC 12 – 25 question, 75 minute multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems which could be understood and solved with algebra and geometry concepts.

 

The number one top scorer among the Philippine participants in the AMC 10 was Farrell Eldrian Wu of MGC New Life Christian Academy who would receive an Honor Roll Distinction Pin and Certificate of Distinction. Coming second was Sedrick Scott Keh of Xavier School winning the Distinction Pin. Both Keh and the third in the rank- Elijamin Wolfgang Claveria of Philippine Science High School- Main won Young Distinction Certificate of Achievement and Certificate of Distinction.

 

The six top scorers in the AMC 10/12 had been listed to take the AIME. The other AIME qualifiers winning the certificates of distinction and Young Student Certificate of Achievement were: Kaye Janelle Yao and Alfonso Miguel Abella of Grace Christian College, and Jose Alfonso Ignancio Mirabueno of Philippine Science High School – SMC. Selina Go and Clark Steven Ty of Philadelphia High School another AIME qualifiers would also receive Young Student Certificate of Achievement.
