Kelsey Lim Tiong Soon, 15 and incoming 4th year student of Grace Christian College unleashed her math might, leaving her contest paper not just almost faultless but totally free from flaws in the Fermat Contest of the Canadian Mathematics Competition (CMC).
Achieving a full score of 150 out of 150, Lim Tiong Soon will be awarded with a medal for her top performing achievement in the Fermat Contest.
The harvest went on as three Filipino math wizards ended as top scorers in the Cayley Contest. Finishing the contest with flying colors were Farrell Eldrian Wu of MGC New Life Christian Academy, Matthew Uy of Xavier School and Shaquille Wyan Que of Grace Christian College.
Two more Filipino students were in the short list of top performers in this year’s Canadian Mathematics Competition. Making a big headway in their participation in the Cayley Contest were the following top scorers, Gregory Charles Tiong and Steven Reyes of St. Jude Catholic School.
The medals of the winners in the three CMC contests will be presented during the closing program of the 2014 Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program at Grace Christian College on May 22, 2014.
The 2014 Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Contests were written by a total of approximately 59,000 students from over 1400 schools worldwide.
