FILIPINOS BAG 4 MEDALS AT 21ST JUNIOR BALKAN MATH OLYMPIAD

Four Filipino high school students landed two silvers and two bronzes in the 21st Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO) held last June 24-29, 2017 in Varna City. Bulgaria.

Vincent U. Dela Cruz of Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science and Bryce Ainsley A. Sanchez of Grace Christian College took home silver medals, according to the official results of the 21st JBMO.

Meanwhile, Immanuel Josiah A. Balete of St. Stephen’s High School and Eion Nikolai S. Chua of International School Manila won bronze medals apiece. Completing the Philippine team was Aiman Andrei U. Kue of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School.

The Filipino contestants were accompanied by Team Leader Hazel Joy Shi and Deputy Team Leader James Kelvin Martin.

The JBMO is a contest intended as an introductory contest for aspiring students less than 15.5 years old in pursuing higher Mathematics Olympiad contests.

Among the participating countries are: Bulgaria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Greece, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, France, Kazakstan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
