Four Filipino math wizards aced the 50 questions in the Cayley and Fermat Contests of the Center for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) developed by the University of Waterloo in Canada.
Amazingly, three perfect scorers in the 2018 Cayley Contest all come from Philippine Science High School - SOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus. They are Maria Angela Yulin, Nyrell Martinez and Allana Joy Boncavil. Another student student , Sean Anderson Ty from Zamboanga Chong Hua High School has earned perfect score in the 2018 Fermat Contest.
In addition, John David Magnaye from Holy Rosary Academy of Las Piñas has been recognized as the top scorer in the 2018 Pascal Contest.
Dr. Isidro Aguilar, MTG president said, “We are extremely proud of their achievement. It is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”
“I prepared for the Fermat Contest,” said Anderson. “My hard work really paid off. They took a lot of problem-solving skills and out-of-the-box thinking. It was a fun and challenging experience answering the Fermat Contest problems."
