Hey kids, the Australian Science Innovations, an independent non-profit organization, is now ready to receive participants for the Rio Tinto Big Science Competition which is scheduled on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.

The competition which allows participants to discover their science talent while encouraging critical thinking and problem solving skills is open to incoming 1st - 4th year high school and 1st - 2nd year college students. The contest questions are written by the Australian Council for Educational Research, Australia’s leading authority in education research. The questions are based on the cutting-edge scientific issues in the modern world such as climate change, biodiversity and the prevention of disease.

The content, aligned to the new Australian Science Curriculum, is drawn from three inter-related strands: Science inquiry skills, Science as a human endeavor and Science Understanding: the knowledge of science.
