From scores of schools in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces that joined the elimination round of the 2013 MTG-SHARP-SM-DepEd Math Trail and Problem Solving Competition, nearly a couple dozen have found their way to the final round which will be held at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 4F SM North, The Annex in Quezon City.
Math trail is a math exploratory activity which centers on relating math to the real world, making students active learners and giving them sense of achievement. The trail takes the participants on a predetermined route with numerous stations where they will have to complete mathematical tasks. Dr. Simon Chua, president of MTG said, “This activity is a wonderful opportunity to bring the excitement of real-world math into the classroom and bring the classroom into the real-world.”
All four members of each team are required to wear their school uniform and their IDs for easy identification. They too are advised to be at the venue an hour before the contest for the registration and final briefing.
