The Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, Philippines celebrated its 10th anniversary with a big bash at the Century Seafood Restaurant, Century Park Hotel on October 21, 2005. Almost all MTG kids, parents, and friends who have been with the guild for ten years now attended the celebration. Among the guests present were the international speakers: Prof. Wen-Hsien Sun, Taiwan; Dr. Andy Liu, Canada; Dr. Peter James Taylor, Australia; Prof. Pinky Leung, Hong Kong; Prof. Qiu Zonghu, and Prof. Tang Dachang, China. MTG, Philippines offered its huge family members a richly sumptuous Chinese cuisine in Lauriat style. The excellent food gave a superb gastronomic satisfaction to all visitors.
Moreover, door prizes that included a trip to Hong Kong and Boracay made everyone stood in suspense while waiting for their numbers to be called. The lucky winners of major and minor prizes went home with a big smile on their faces. Indeed, almost all did not go home with empty handed since other small tokens were given. Supportive parents, schools and MTG coordinators were acknowledged through an award of plaques of appreciation for their unwavering assistance and cooperation. On the other hand, MTG kids received certificates of appreciation for their participation and involvement not only with the MTG programs and activities but also for joining in the several competitions abroad. The affair was more than a merriment. It was more of a reunion of all kids from different batches and a get-together of parents, friends and MTG officers. As a symbol of gratitude, MTG kids from St. Jude Catholic School gave the MTG officers a token of thankfulness. Dr. Simon L. Chua, MTG Philippines President, was seen as a very accplished person in the celebration since the success of the party reflected his dynamic leadership.
