SARAH JANE CUA MAKES HISTORY IN NAT'L SUDOKU FINALS

Feb 03, 2009

Thrill and excitement hovered in the atmosphere as tension and pressure to knock down the equally best Sudoku puzzlers was seemingly each contestant’s goal during the national finals of the 3rd Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge held at the Cyberzone, 4th Level of SM City North, The Annex on January 31, 2009.

The pressure was more intense as majority of the finalists of Sudoku Whiz Kid, Sudoku Wizard and Sudoku Grand Master categories stood firm to make themselves qualify for the next round. As one by one stumbled for not having answered correctly and completely at least fifty percent of the puzzles in each round, both the spectators and the remaining contestants themselves had left unsure of the possible names and faces of the winners until the five strongest contenders emerged in the championship round.

A loud applause interrupted the silence of the contest venue when Sarah Jane Cua of Pangasinan Universal Institute finished the mixed or combined Sudoku in a stunning 10-minute time. Another applause burst when the juror declared her answers correct, making her to get a solid bonus points. And so, she’s the champion of the Sudoku Grand Master, staking Php.60,000, a trophy and many special gift items.
