The Philippines through the Mathematics Trainers' Guild, Philippines brought seven participants to compete in the 9thChina Western Mathematics Olympiad (CWMO) in Yunnam Normal University Attached Middle School, Kunming, China on October 28 – November 1, 2009.
The competition which was participated in by China, Hong Kong, Romania, Kazakhstan, Singapore and the Philippines had been the whetstone of mathematical talent. Obvious as it may seem, the participants with all their math prowess had managed to prove themselves worthy to be in the competition arena.
Grabbing the bronze medals for the Philippines were Amiel Sy of Philippine Science High School-Main, Matthew Chris Chan of St. Stephen’s High School and Vance Eldric Go of St. Jude Catholic School.
By all means the presence of the other members of the Philippine team such as those of Marquis Alexandre Tan of Xavier School, Kate Andrea Bonamy of Grace Christian College, Janssen Lawrence Chan and Keefe Collin Tan of St. Jude Catholic School had been an immense contributing factor for the Pinoy math wizards to shine as they should in the 9thCWMO.
Congratulations to you all!!!
