The green light is on for the 2010 International Mathematics Competition (IMC) - Singapore where 9 countries including the Philippines have been invited to send math troopers from the elementary and high school levels for the showdown of mathematical prowess on August 7 to 10 in Singapore.

The MTG, Philippines, after making its trainees undergo a month-long training, has identified fifty nine (59) and forty four (44) qualifiers from the elementary and high school levels respectively to face the challenge of their counterparts coming from the usual participating countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, India, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia.

The 2010 IMC is open to primary/elementary pupils and secondary students. The competition is usually done according to grade/year level, thus the award is also given based on grade/year level.

Other than to awaken the public awareness on the importance of mathematics and to encourage everyone to study hard the subject, the goal also includes sharpening of mathematical skills and competence in preparation for the International Mathematics Olympiad.

This invitation is on a First Come, First Serve basis. Therefore, the most probable members of the Philippine team are requested to show their intention and confirmation of participation by emailing to Mr. Jerome Salazar at bluenote7007@yahoo.com with the subject, “Yes to 2010 IMC-Singapore” on or before June 24, 2010. Failure to do so means that the prospective participant prefers to give his/her slot to another interested qualifier or alternate.

The registration form and other instructions will be emailed to the interested participants immediately after MTG, Philippines will receive their confirmation.
