Though there had been no opportunity for the 16 Filipino math wizards to see Mt. Everest, yet they literally were on top of the world as they braved the challenge of the 2011 Asia Inter-Cities Teenagers Mathematics Olympiad (AITMO) hosted by the Malpi International School in Panauti, Kavre, Nepal last November 13- 17, 2011.
Having garnered a total of 5 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals, the Pinoy math wizards had been placed second overall based on medals, next to Thailand and above Bulgaria and Iran which landed in the 3rd and 4th places respectively.
Furthermore, the Philippine teams A, B and C managed to be in the 2nd place in the team contest while PH team D won third. In the group contest, Philippine teams A, B and D settled in the third place.
