The Philippines that brought 4 teams was slated 2nd place in the 2011 Wizards at Mathematics International Competition organized by the City Montessori School in Lucknow, India on October 20 - 24, 2011.
Winning at total of 6 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals in the individual contest, the Philippine teams ranked next to Thailand which garnered 7 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals.
This year's gold medalists were Gene Go Jr. and Xavier Jefferson Ray Go of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, Raphael Villaluz of San Beda College Alabang, Cary Albert Chan of St. Jude Catholic School, Miko Johnson Ong Co of St. Stephen's High School, and Jasper John Segismundo of Pasig Catholic College.
Hooking the silver medals were Ezekiel Young of Jubilee Christian Academy, Terence Brian Tsai of Chiang Kai Shek College, Cristiana Marie Calderon of Falcon Learning Center, and Mikhaela Marie Diaz of Special Education Center for the Gifted.
The winners of bronze medals were Lou Irish Gonzales of Pasig Catholic College, Anica Clarice Antonella Galano of St. Paul College, Pasig, Angelika Joie Tagupa of Colegio San Agustin-Makati and Andrew Vince Lee of Xavier School.
As for the three highest scores of the teams in the Individual Contest, the members of the Philippine Team A (Go, Tsai, Villaluz and Chan) and Philippine Team B (Co, Go, Calderon and Segismundo) each received a silver medal and a trophy for each team. While PH team C (Galano, Gonzales, Diaz, and Tagupa) and PH team D (Lee, Young, Tofelle John Jipos of Pasig Catholic College , and Neil Joshua Patiag of Special Education for the Gifted) ended up third place and each member received a bronze medal.
In the team contest, PH team B bagged the first place along with teams from Thailand teams A, B and Indonesia MEC team C while PH teams A and D were slated in the second place. The members of the Philippine team C each received a bronze medal for making it in the third place.
Furthermore, the PH team B was awarded with a certificate of excellence for its performance in the team contest which placed them 2nd in the overall ranking.
A total of 39 teams from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Thailand had participated in this year's 2011 WIZMIC.
