Timothy James Tan, 14 and 2nd year student of Trinity Christian School in Bacolod City, won a bronze medal from his participation in the 8th China Southeast Math Olympiad held in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China last July 25-30, 2011.

The more than a hundred contestants from China, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and the Philippines had a total of two days to answer a set of four problems each day. Each examination had to be completed within two hours and thirty minutes.

The Philippines sent 9 participants. The other members were Nathaniel Ryan Ang 2nd year, Aaron Jevon Anthony Dy 2nd year and Brendon Matthew Go 2nd year of Xavier School, Michael Brodeth 2nd year of Philippine Science High School-Main, Brandon Chan 3rd year of Philippine Cultural College-Annex, Deany Hendrick Cheng 2nd year and Sean Timothy Cheng 3rd year of Grace Christian College, and Julius Vincent Sy 3rd year of St. Stephen's High School.
