MTG FIELDS PARTICIPANTS FOR INITIAL INTERNATIONAL MATH TILT

May 16, 2011

Just as summer in the Philippines is about to end, the period of international mathematics competitions is about to start with the Po Leung Kuk Primary Math World Contest which will be held in Hong Kong on July 13-17, 2011.  This will be followed by the Indonesia International Mathematics Competition, which will be composed of Elementary Mathematics International Contest and Invitational World Youth Mathematics Inter-cities Competition to be held in Bali, Indonesia on July 18-23, 2011.

In addition, the International Mathematics Contest (IMC) - Singapore will take place on July 29 - August 2,2011.  The complete list of participants for this contest shall be announced at a later date.  Likewise, the Hua Lou Geng Golden Cup will also be competed on July 22-25, 2011.

This year, MTG has enlisted to join at least 11 math contests abroad in Singapore, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Nepal and India. One contest, the 8th IMSO, will be held in Naga City on September 2-6, 2011."

Furthermore, the selection of possible participants to represent the country in any math contest abroad is based on the trainees' performance, that is, the scores in the 2011 Young Mathematicians' In-house Intensive Training Program (YMIITP) and 2011 Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program (MOSTP). The date of birth set by the contest organizers, especially those of the 2011 Indonesia International Mathematics Competitions, IMC-Singapore, Hua Bei Sai Golden Cup, International Mathematics/Science Olympiad for Primary School Students, and the Po Leung Kuk Primary Math World Contest in Hong Kong is being considered as well.

Furthermore, the above-mentioned participants should start making their confirmations of participation and send the scanned deposit slips through this e-mail address:mtg.mco@gmail.com with the subject header "Yes to (name of the contest to be participated)" on or before 5pm of May 17, 2011.  Failure to give the affirmation on the said date would mean that the participant is backing out from the Philippine Team.  Thus, MTG reserves the right to award the vacant slot(s) to other qualified participants.  A deposit of Php5,000.00 shall be made to:

                                         BPI Zamboanga Branch
                                         Account Name: MTG Philippines
                                         Account Number: 2111-0214-68
*Please do not forget to put your location code in your area in the deposit slip. For more information on the Location code, please click here: http://mtgphil.org/announcements.php?id=252

The very reason why deposit has to be made this early by the participants (especially for PMWC,  IIMC and IMC-Singapore) is that the travel agency deems it necessary from all members of the Philippine Delegation to do so for fear of the imminent airfare rise scheduled anytime next week. In order to assure a plane seat at the most practical cost, then booking has to be made on the early morning of Wednesday, May 18.

The Registration Form will be sent to the participants once confirmation has been made. Meanwhile, the participants should keep their original deposit slips and submit them on the first day of training class for the different International Mathematics Competitions.
