3 MATH ACES BAG AWARDS IN CAYLEY, FERMAT AND PASCAL CONTESTS

The Center for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) of the University of Waterloo that runs the Canadian Mathematics Competition, through its associate editor, Mr. Mike Eden, has named the Philippines as the zone champion due to its outstanding achievement in Cayley, Pascal and Fermat contests given in February 2012.
The results show that every contest has one participant who gets a medal each for scoring the highest among the Philippine participants. In addition, there are a total of 260 Filipino math wizards who shall receive distinction certificates for ranking in the top 25% of all contestants in each contest, that is 74 in Cayley, 95 in Pascal and 91 in Fermat contests.
The topnotcher of the Cayley contest is Lesley Balete of Grace Christian College. Her impressively perfect score earns her a Cayley champion medal from the Canadian Mathematics Competition. The other recipients of the same mark of distinction areCristiana Calderon of Falcon School for topping the Pascal Contest and Jimmy Soriano of Grace Christian College for his performance in the Fermat contest.
