The Center for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) of the Faculty of Mathematics of University of Waterloo that develops and administers the Canadian Mathematics Competitions revealed that five Filipino math aces topped the Fryer, Galois and Hypatia contests conducted in the Philippines in April 2015.
This year’s top winners receiving a medal each were Stefan Marcus Ong from St. Jude Catholic School who made it in the Fryer Contest while Ryan Mark Shao from Xavier School who stood best in the Galois Contest and these three other math aces namely, Justine John Serdoncillo and Miguel Lorenzo Ildesafrom Philippine Science High School – Main, and Luke Matthew Bernardo from Philadelphia High School who shared the coveted spots in the Hypatia Contest.
A total of 40 other math wizards in the Philippines will receive a certificate of distinction each for their excellent performance in the 3 CEMC contests.
