Four secondary students representing the Philippines outclassed their fellow competitors by winning two gold medals and two silver medals in the 2016 China Western Mathematical Invitation held in Mianyang, Sichuan, China.
Winning Gold were Shaquille Wyan Que of Grace Christian College and Albert John Patupat of De La Salle University Integrated School (formerly the Holy Rosary College of Sta. Rosa Laguna).
Meanwhile, silver medals were brought home by Adam Christopher Chan (Grace Christian College) and Luke Matthews Bernardo - DLSU Integrated School (formerly the Philadelphia School).
Among the participating countries were Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia and China.
Patterned after the IMO, the China Western Mathematical Invitation is one of the toughest math contests in the world.
