Forty three Filipino math wizards made their confirmation to be part of the special group to fulfill the Philippines’ dream for gold. The “Go for Gold” is President Aquino’s challenge to all Filipino mathletes, of which MTG Philippines had been chosen by DOST-SEI to train selected math wizards for the following math contests:
These international math contests contain tough and grueling problems. Knowing the nature of difficulty of the problems, only the most courageous or none at all would dare to participate in them. It is only this year where a special group had been formed to receive special training for the impending out of the ordinary challenge.
The training will begin on Thursday, April 12, 2012, 9am to 4pm at St. Francis Assisi College, Admiral Village, Las Piñas.
It should be noted that the IMO is the hardest math contest in the world while the four others following IMO style are considered equally toughest. This means that the Philippines will join CSMO, CGMO, CWMO and RIMO in preparation to meet the world’s best mathematicians in this year’s IMO.
These are our Filipino math wizards whose gallant decision to grasp the first gold for the Philippines and the Filipino people:
