FILIPINO MATHLETES END UP ACHIEVING HIGH DISTINCTION IN JAPAN

The exceptional problem-solving skills and profound understanding of mathematical concepts propelled the four Filipino math wizards to the top in the 2023 Asia Mathematics Olympics (AMO) Final Rounds held in Chiba, Japan last November 24 – 27, 2023.

 

Leading the rankings were Liam Franco B. Gocheco, Grade 6, from Xavier School Nuvali adjudged as Top 2 Overall (International) and Top 1 (Japan Venue) in Senior Category and Heal Job Uy Esio, Grade 5, from Pangasinan Universal Institute proclaimed as Top 3 Overall (International) and Top 2 (Japan Venue) in the Kids Bee Open Category.

 

Not far behind, Kalel Elijah A. Lontok, Grade 8, from Senator Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School was declared Top 1 in the Senior Open Category (Japan Venue).

 

Their remarkable performance secured and solidified their spots as outstanding young mathematicians among the participants from Japan, India, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. This recent feat signifies their immense potential and dedication to excelling in the field of mathematics which made them finished as top-ranking participants in this year’s Asia Mathematics Olympics.

 

Dr. Isidro Aguilar, MTG President remarked, “As the winners, they brought honor not only to themselves but also to their families, teachers, and the schools that have nurtured their mathematical abilities.”
